What safety rules should be observed when operating a lathe?

  1. When working, you should wear a work cap (to secure hair), work clothes, and work shoes, but gloves are not allowed (due to the risk of entanglement).
  2. Your head must not be too close to the rotating workpiece while working to prevent chips from flying into the eyes. If debris is splashing, you must wear protective goggles.
  3. Hands and body must not be close to rotating parts, such as the chuck, belts and pulleys, gears, lead screws, etc. Furthermore, you must not joke or fool around near these areas.
  4. The workpiece and cutting tool must be clamped very securely. The chuck wrench must be removed immediately to prevent it from flying out and causing injury.
  5. When clamping a heavy workpiece or changing the chuck, you must use lifting equipment or ask others for help; do not work alone.
  6. Do not use measuring tools on a rotating workpiece, and do not use your hands to touch the surface of a rotating workpiece.
  7. Do not use your hands to directly clear chips. Use a special hook (or dedicated tool) for cleaning.
  8. Do not use your hands to brake (or stop) a rotating chuck.
  9. Do not arbitrarily install, remove, or dismantle electrical equipment.
